Beginning at Rash Field Park, paddlers will proceed clockwise around the waterfront passing cultural institutions like the Maryland Science Center and National Aquarium, historic vessels like the USS Constellation, the Lightship Chesapeake, and the USS Torsk, and environmental restoration projects like floating wetlands, oyster gardens, and Mr. Trash Wheel. All the while taking in the city’s beautiful skyline to the north and historic Federal Hill to the south. Nowhere else in the region offers anything close to this awe-inspiring paddling experience. As the trail continues, paddlers will pass the new neighborhoods of Harbor East and Harbor Point before reaching the Frederick Douglass-Isaac Myers Maritime Park and the historic neighborhood of Fells Point. While in Fells Point, paddlers will be able to disembark and patronize the many nearby shops and restaurants before returning to their vessels to paddle back to Rash Field Park.

Proposed Enhancements:

The more beginner-friendly “Inner Harbor Heritage Trail” currently has no access points. Paddlers must launch from elsewhere and then paddle into the Inner Harbor. It is recommended that a public kayak launch be added to Rash Field Park in the Inner Harbor. It is also recommended that 1-3 rest stops be provided at points of interest.
