Broadway Pier has been completely renovated since its time as a bustling seaport. Thousands of engraved bricks on the pier were sold and placed there by the Baltimore Harbor Endowment as a fundraiser to complete the pier and Waterfront Promenade, a 7 ½-mile walkway around the harbor from Canton Waterfront Park to the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

Broadway Pier currently serves visiting towboats, classic sailing vessels, and Coast Guard and Navy ships. Earlier wharves at this location served ferries from other parts of the harbor, including Locust Point, which was a point of entry for immigrants. The ferries Dreamland and Samuel H. Taggart delivered thousands of immigrants from Locust Point to Fell’s Point and East Baltimore, where many settled.
