Existing access points are sites where paddlers currently have access due to physical conditions (ability to safely get in and out of the water) and ownership (public and/or easement in place). Until additional access sites are added, the following six sites are the foundation of the Baltimore Blueway.

INNER HARBOR KAYAK LAUNCH

FELLS POINT KAYAK LAUNCH

Bond Street Wharf park is a beautiful waterfront park located in Baltimore. With stunning views of the harbor and plenty of green space, it's the perfect place to relax and unwind. Whether you're looking to enjoy a quiet afternoon picnic or take a leisurely stroll along the waterfront, Bond Street Wharf park is the perfect destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.

LOCUST POINT KAYAK LAUNCH (COMING SOON)

1010 Hull Street | Boat Ramp |Parking Available

This launch is located at the Tide Point Office Complex & Waterfront Park in Locust Point. Free parking is available on Hull Street and onsite in spaces designated for visitors. This is also next to the Tide Point stop for Baltimore City’s Harbor Connector (free during business hours) and the Baltimore Water Taxi. There is a waterfront promenade adjacent to the dock that is free and open to the public.

CANTON WATERFRONT PARK

The public boat ramp at Canton Waterfront Park is an excellent launch site for kayakers looking to explore the beautiful waters of Baltimore. The ramp features a gentle slope for a smooth launch and a floating dock that makes it easy to get in and out of your kayak, making it ideal for both beginners and experienced paddlers. The park offers a serene and peaceful atmosphere, and this access point is conveniently located near the Canton neighborhood, with several food and shopping options within a quarter-mile radius.

RYE STREET PARK

The kayak launch at Rye Street Park on the Baltimore Peninsula is a peaceful and scenic spot for paddlers to explore the nearby waters. The launch is situated on a calm inlet with easy access to the Patapsco River. The area is well-maintained and has ample space for launching and landing kayaks. The launch is equipped with a dock, making it easy to get in and out of your kayak. The surrounding park is also a great place to relax and enjoy the beautiful waterfront views. Whether you're an experienced kayaker or a beginner, the kayak launch at Rye Street Park is a great spot to start your adventure.

FERRY BAR PARK

2899 W Peninsula Drive | Boat Ramp |Parking Available

Ferry Bar Park, a public park with a soft launch kayak beach, a great spot for water enthusiasts to start their adventure. It offers a safe and easy entry point into the water, with a gentle slope leading down to the water's edge. The surrounding area is peaceful and scenic, with stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

MIDDLE BRANCH PARK

3301 Waterview Avenue | Boat Ramp |Parking Available

Middle Branch Park offers a floating dock launch reachable by an access road for easy loading and unloading of your paddle craft.  There is also an ADA-accessible kayak launch located at the park that requires a longer portage of your vessel. Middle Branch Park offers a clear view of the Baltimore City skyline, a wildlife observatory area, and a boardwalk. From the park, you can try sculling with the Baltimore Rowing Club, participate in the Baltimore City Recreation and Parks Canoe and Kayak programs, take a paddle in your craft, or test your luck with recreational fishing or crabbing. You can hop on the Gwynns Falls Trail- biking or walking 14 miles west toward Gwynns Falls Leakin Park or 1 mile north to the city’s Inner Harbor.

BROENING PARK

2801 S Hanover Street | Boat Ramp |Parking Available

The Broening Park Boat Ramp is situated in Middle Branch Park, located in the Cherry Hill area of South Baltimore. The park overlooks the Patapsco River and offers beautiful views of the city. It features two boat launches and two fishing piers. A fishing license is NOT required to fish on the park property. There is ample parking at this access point.

SOUTHWEST AREA PARK

The Southwest Area Park Boat Ramp is a great place to launch your boat for a day of fun on the water. It's located in a beautiful park setting with plenty of parking and amenities for boaters. The ramp itself is well-maintained and easy to use, with plenty of space for multiple boats to launch at once. The surrounding area is also great for picnics, hiking, and other outdoor activities, making it a perfect place for a day trip with family and friends. Overall, if you're looking for a great place to launch your boat in the Southwest Area, this park boat ramp is definitely worth checking out.

MASONVILLE COVE REST STOP

Masonville Cove would be a terrific location for community kayak programming or rental facilities. The Masonville Cove Trail takes paddlers to visit the country’s first certified urban wildlife refuge. The trail can be accessed from Broening Park, Middle Branch Park, or Southwest Area Park. It connects to the Middle Branch Loop to the west and the Fort McHenry Crossing to the east. The Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center and shoreline are open to the public during regularly scheduled hours, so paddlers should check www.masonvillecove.org prior to visiting. Upon arriving, all visitors are asked to please check in at the nature center.
